Rani Shortland - Divine Makeup Artist
From the early age of 5, I fell in love with Makeup, and 30odd years later not much has changed.
After completing High School I flew to the other side of theworld where I developed the Travel Bug very quickly. I had many jobs during my 20’s to aid my desireto keep travelling the World. I knew that I had always wanted to get into theMakeup Artistry but also knew it had to be right timing, so it wasn’t until Iwas 29 that it all transpired…
I found myself in New York City and knew this was it! Time to get certified in Makeup Artistry,persue my passion and become fully immersed in what the ‘Fashion Capitol of theWorld’ had to offer.
This fast paced, creative concrete jungle set me in such goodstead – with so many creative people all hussling in one city, it was almostimpossible not to bump into people on every street corner that were in some wayable to help me gain the experience and confidence that every Makeup Artistneeds to gain after getting certified.
Before I knew it I was working at New York Fashion Week,Germany’s Next Top Model, Real Housewives of New York, New York’s up and comingPhotographers, Models and Designers, music videos and celebrities. What a ride! Always very grateful to have been so lucky to have ended up in such anamazing city…but after a good decade of not being home, it was time to moveback to New Zealand.
In 2011 I moved home to Auckland where I was a Full timeProfessional Freelancer in both Hair and Makeup for many genres of theindustry;

Weddings – Wedding season is always very busy anywhere inthe World, so I have had the opportunity to make women look and feel their bestin a number of countries including Italy, New York, Rarotonga, Fiji and ofcourse Australasia.
And now Sydney! I fell for an Aussie bloke, so life hasbrought me to this city that I love so much. I look forward to the next chapter of life here and the differentchallenges and rewards this city will bring to my career.
My job is my career, therefore, I am always Professional,Personable and Reliable…my job is also fun and exciting – every day isdifferent and I get to meet people from all walks of life every day – I LOVE myjob and am always grateful for that.
